The Level 1 Complex Certificate is the highest standard for Canadian RPAS pilots, opening the door to advanced operations including low-risk Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) flights and compliance for an RPAS Operator Certificate (RPOC). This is where serious commercial operators take their credentials to the next level.

Your path to L1C certification:

  1. Enroll in Online Ground School — The RPAS Centre provides 20 hours of mandatory training through their free Level 1 Complex Ground School. → RPAS Centre Level 1 Complex Ground School
  2. Pass the TC L1C Exam — Complete the Transport Canada Level 1 Complex theoretical exam with a minimum score of 80%. → Transport Canada Level 1 Complex Exam
  3. Book and Pass the L1C Flight Review — Complete the in-person flight assessment with a Transport Canada-sanctioned Flight Reviewer.
